Sterling Tucker : ウィキペディア英語版 | Sterling Tucker Sterling Tucker (born December 21, 1923, Akron, Ohio)〔(【引用サイトリンク】 publisher=The HistoryMakers )〕 is an American civil rights activist and politician in Washington, D.C. In 1974, he was elected as a Democrat to be chairman of the Council of the District of Columbia in the first election after home rule was established, serving for one term. He ran unsuccessfully for mayor in 1978 against the incumbent Walter Washington and at-large council member Marion Barry, who won in a landslide. In January 1979, President Jimmy Carter nominated Tucker to be Assistant Secretary for the Office of Fair Housing and Equal Opportunity at the United States Department of Housing and Urban Development. ==References==
